CLEVELAND—Besides the Charles Goodyear Medal, the ACS Rubber Division revealed the winners of its other 2018 Science & Technology Awards.
The winners were announced during the Rubber Division's International Elastomer Conference in Cleveland, with the awards to be handed out at next May's spring technical meeting in Indianapolis.
Joe Padovan will be honored with the Melvin Mooney Distinguished Technology Award, sponsored by Lion Elastomers. His career has included stints in industrial positions, in research, as a consultant and as a teacher.
He earned a doctorate in mechanical engineering at the Polytechnic Institute of New York. His industrial activities have included time at Curtiss Wright Corp., United Technologies and most recently at Goodyear as a corporate RD&E fellow. At Goodyear, he headed the Tire Physics/Mechanics Group.
