Replacing DPG for a safer tire life cycle

Thursday, February 27, 2025

With the growing of the environmental and health hazards posed by materials used in tire manufacturing, producers and compounders are looking to reduce or eliminate chemicals such as1,3-diphenylguanidine (DPG) and N1-(4-Methylpentan-2-yl)-N4-phenylbenzene-1,4-diamine (6-PPD). The greatest challenge in removing these chemicals is replacing them with environmentally safer materials that meet performance, processability and cost targets.

PSG is a company that provides sustainable solutions on the cutting-edge of tire materials research. Our Product Innovation Team is focused on Synthesizing novel, sustainable materials that address these industry concerns. Our mantra is “Formulate Without Compromise”

During this webinar, we will discuss a new product designed to replace DPG in highly silica or silica-carbon black blend compounds. This novel product allows compounders to remove DPG while maintaining or enhancing both tire performance and compound processability.

Primary Topics:

  • Replacement of DPG

Steering Tire Technology to New Heights With SureMix®

Tuesday, December 03, 2024

The tire industry is constantly seeking technologies that steer them to new heights. SureMix®, a line of functional process aids, is one such technology that meets this need by optimizing processability while enhancing tire performance. Addition of SureMix will facilitate high temperature silanization, expand utility of functional polymers, and enhance properties when used in conjunction with blocked mercaptosilane.

SureMix® measurably improves processability of functional polymers while further reducing hysteresis for best-in-class fuel economy. Alternatively, SureMix® can help tire producers meet performance targets without relying on costly and difficult to process functional polymers.

We will present how SureMix® allows tire compounders to formulate without compromise and to improve performance and processability without a cost penalty.
