TOKYO—Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. has resumed its tire operations in Russia following a halt in production since March.
In a brief statement to European Rubber Journal on Sept. 6, Yokohama said operations at its 10-year-old passenger tire plant in Lipetsk, Russia, had been suspended "due to problems in procuring raw materials."
"But (production) has now resumed as some of the raw materials have become available," it said.
The statement did not provide further details.
The factory in Lipetsk operates under Yokohama RPZ L.L.C., the Japanese tire maker's subsidiary there. Production was suspended on March 18, shortly after Russia invaded Ukraine.
The facility has the capacity to produce 1.6 million tires a year.
Lipetsk is a city of about 550,000 residents in Lipetsk Oblast, located roughly 275 miles south of Moscow and 250 miles from the Ukraine border.
