Trelleborg halts construction of plant in Russia

TRELLEBORG, Sweden—Trelleborg Group has halted the construction of a manufacturing plant in Russia more than a month ago, following Russia's invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24.

Trelleborg released an April 7 statement in response to what the group described as "incorrect media reports," which stated that Trelleborg operated manufacturing sites and sales in the aggressing country.

"Trelleborg does not have any manufacturing sites in Russia or in Belarus," the company said.

"The previous plan of establishing a manufacturing facility in Russia was halted more than a month ago," it added.

Trelleborg emphasized that it is following all sanctions implemented and has "neither any deliveries or sales" to Russia or Belarus presently.

Trelleborg announced in October last year that it was investing a total of $31 million (SEK 300 million) in establishing manufacturing operations in Russia, Vietnam, Japan and Morocco.

The plant in Yesipovo, near Moscow, was due for operation in the third quarter of this year, producing sealing solutions for the domestic transportation and aerospace markets.
