TRELLEBORG, Sweden—Trelleborg A.B. has responded to a Swedish newspaper report that the group had—contrary to its own information—continued supplying tires and other products to Russia after the imposition of European Union sanctions.
Citing Russian customs data, the Dagens Industri report said that in late 2022, Trelleborg had made sizable deliveries to a Russian logistics company serving Russian state-owned operations including the defense industry.
The Swedish rubber-based products manufacturer had previously issued strong denials that it had made any such deliveries, according to the media outlet.
Trelleborg now is accepting the accuracy of such reports, according to an Oct. 13 statement supplied to European Rubber Journal.
The company noted, however, that upon making the decision to terminate operations in Russia in Belarus, it already had deliveries in transit and long-standing projects that it claims were not subject to the sanctions.
