Cabot donation supports Ukraine

BOSTON—Cabot Corp. is joining others throughout the rubber industry, offering support to the citizens of Ukraine as Russia continues its attacks on the country, targeting civilian areas and hospitals.

"As a company that is guided by our values, we cannot ignore the human suffering unfolding in Ukraine and the impacts that are felt throughout the region," Sean Keohane, Cabot president and CEO,  said in a statement.

Those values, the Cabot website notes, include integrity, respect, excellence and responsibility.

Through its Cabot Corp. Foundation, the company is donating $250,000 to organizations throughout Europe that are working to provide assistance and relief to the Ukrainian people.

"The safety and the security of our colleagues and their families in and outside the region is our highest priority," Keohane said. "We are deeply concerned by the ongoing escalation and stand with the innocent victims of this war and hope for a peaceful resolution as quickly as possible. Our hearts go out to the people of Ukraine, their loved ones, and all of those affected."

Cabot, a Boston-based carbon black maker with operations around the world, does not have facilities in either Russia or Ukraine, but does operate in the Czech Republic and Latvia. Additional European facilities are located in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands and United Kingdom.

The company employs about 4,500 globally.
