WILMER, Texas—Yokohama Tire Corp. (YTC) has started operations at a 430,000-sq.-ft distribution center in Wilmer, located about 15 miles southeast of Dallas.
The newly built facility will be used initially to distribute Yokohama's passenger car and light truck tires, followed by commercial truck and bus products in 2022, a YTC official said.
The facility was specifically built in a location that would improve logistics, YTC said.
"Building this modern facility in Wilmer was a strategic decision," Rick Alonzo, YTC vice president of supply chain and logistics, said. "It places us closer to our customer base, helping get our products to dealers much faster. That was one of our goals when deciding on the new location."
The site is LEED-certified, meeting an international sustainability standard.
"Years of exceptional growth fueled the expansion of our distribution network," Stan Chandgie, YTC executive vice president of sales and support, said.
"With four full-service distribution centers now in the U.S.—Wilmer, Texas; Chino, Calif.; Groveport, Ohio; and Auburn, Ga.—Yokohama is poised for future growth and takes our existing customer service to the next level."
