WAKEFIELD, Mass.—Trelleborg Wheel Systems Americas Inc. has added a Comfort line to its Brawler HPS (high-performance solid) telehandler tire range, offering reduced vibration and improved driving of telehandlers and compact wheel loaders in waste and recycling applications.

According to Trelleborg, the line of solid tires maximizes ride comfort and performance in demanding environments. It will be available in North America in January.

Alessio Bucci, the product marketing senior manager at Trelleborg Wheel Systems, said waste and recycling applications are "extremely demanding" on tires, which often are damaged or punctured during operations.

Bucci said Trelleborg believes driver comfort is essential for productivity.

"After receiving a very positive market response to our Brawler 25-inch HPS soft ride line, we decided to extend the concept to our smaller 24-inch range of HPS tires for telehandlers and compact wheel loaders."

The Comfort line features a wide footprint that provides better traction compared with standard solid tires. The wide, flat tread design offers stability and extended operating hours, while a deep lug tread design has three times more wear than a pneumatic tire, according to the tire maker.

"Standard solid tires give increased safety and require zero maintenance, but this often comes at the expense of operator comfort," Bucci said, adding that the "telehandlers and compact wheel loaders drivers will experience a softer ride thanks to increased shock absorption and reduced vibration."

    Tire sizes available are: 43x15-24; 47x17-24; 13.00-24 and 14.00-24.

Trelleborg Wheel Systems recently launched a press-on solid tire for materials-handling applications, the PS1000, that features the company's Pit Stop Line wear indicator for the first time in a solid application.
