COSTA MESA, Calif.—Toyo Tire USA Corp. has upgraded the all-season tire in its ultra-high performance (UHP) portfolio, unveiling the Proxes Sport A/S+ for sport cars, CUVs and SUVs.
The Proxes Sport A/S+ improves wet traction while maintaining the dry performance of its predecessor, the Sport A/S released in 2020, according to the company.
"Building on the success of its predecessor, this new tire offers drivers the performance they expect from an ultra-high performance tire with the added benefit of all-season reliability," Kevin Arima, senior manager, consumer products at Toyo USA, said.
"Drivers seeking an exciting tire without compromising on tread life will appreciate the improvements in this model.
"Additionally, the wide range of sizes, including high-load capacity options, accommodates the growing popularity of heavier vehicles, providing a significant advantage for both dealers and consumers," he said.
The Proxes Sport A/S+ will be produced in 80 sizes covering 17- to 22-inch wheel diameters and W and Y speed ratings. Popular fitments include Audi and BMW cars and SUVs, Ford Mustang and Mustang Mach-E, Nissan Z, Tesla Model 3, X and Y, and Toyota GR Supra.
A high-load (HL) capacity option for heavier vehicles, such as electric vehicles, hybrids and large SUVs, will be available in select sizes, Toyo said.
Toyo said the improved tread compound in the Proxes Sport A/S+ "boosts performance in wet conditions, lowers rolling resistance for better fuel and range efficiency, while maximizing tread life."
The Proxes Sport A/S+ asymmetric tread design features a high-stiffness outer rib for enhanced cornering, higher sipe density inner ribs for improved wet and dry braking, and "competitive" light-snow traction, the company said.
"The Sport A/S+ also has an ultra-high performance casing construction with a stiff sidewall, high tensile steel belts and high hardness bead filler, enhancing responsiveness and handling while delivering even contact pressure during acceleration, braking and cornering," the company said.
"The dynamic taper design provides excellent traction and handling, enhancing wet and dry braking, while the multi-wave sipes minimize irregular wear for a quiet ride throughout the tire's life and improved wet and dry performance."
The Proxes Sport A/S+ carries a 50,000-mile limited treadwear warranty and 45-day/500-mile trial offer.
The first Proxes Sport A/S+ sizes will be available starting in July with additional products becoming available into next year. Pricing information was not disclosed.
