HYOGO, JAPAN—Toyo Tire Corp. has established a new Digital Transformation Division as part of a major restructuring bid, which started earlier this year.
Launched April 1, the new division will work toward "building an end-to-end system that connects us with customers," Toyo said in a statement. The goal, the tire maker added, is to create an "agile management style" that will help to accelerate digitalization and innovation within the company.
Toyo unveiled its reorganization plans late last year, saying it would focus on the reinforcement of the headquarters function and strengthening the company's technological capabilities.
The company's new organization layout includes a headquarters for corporate, business, production and sales. Additionally, the fundamental production engineering headquarters will be dissolved under the new plan. The production engineering division, operating under this division will be transferred to production headquarters.
As part of the reorganization, Toyo will dissolve its business strategy division and create a new supply-chain management division within its business headquarters.
In terms of research and development, the company will dissolve its R&D Division No. 1 and R&D Division No. 2 to create three development divisions: advanced process, technology and product.
A new production method development department also will be established under the advanced process development division.
