HYOGO, Japan—Having already unveiled its mid-term growth strategy, Toyo Tire Corp. has disclosed a series of changes to its organizational structure aiming to consolidate its operations domestically and internationally.
Effective Oct. 1, the company will reorganize its quality assurance departments under a new headquarter titled "quality assurance, environment & safety."
Toyo said in a Sept. 26 statement that the move will better cater to customers and reinforce its tire business for trucks and buses.
As part of the move, the Toyo's domestic technical service and the international technical service departments have been dissolved and replaced by the consumer tire technical service department and the commercial tire technical service department.
In addition, Toyo has merged the two domestic production division and international production division into one "production headquarters."
The integration will enable a consolidated global management of production, help reconfigure the production and supply systems, and enhance the company's production capacity both in Japan and abroad.
The company will also reorganize its global sales structure, setting up organizations that comprehensively oversee operations in each region.
Accordingly, the domestic sales and the international sales divisions will be dissolved and replaced by the Europe, Africa & Middle East sales division and the Asia & Oceania sales division, which will also cover sales in Japan.
Toyo did not elaborate on plans for its sales division in the Americas region.
Toyo announced a series of reorganization measures late in 2018, saying it would focus on the reinforcement of the headquarters function and strengthen the company's technological capabilities.
The company's new organization layout included a corporate headquarters, a business headquarters, a research and development headquarters, a production headquarters, and as well as a sales headquarters.
