DUNWOODY, Ga.—TireHub L.L.C., the U.S. tire distribution joint venture set up in mid-2018 by Bridgestone Americas Inc. and Goodyear, is planning to add a pair of distribution centers at sites in Lakeville, Minn., and Columbia, S.C.
The openings, set for the fourth quarter, will expand the TireHub network of distribution centers to 71 in 35 states. Earlier this year it added a center in Fort Myers, Fla., and since opening for business in July 2018 has relocated centers in Austin, Texas; Knoxville, Tenn.; Mobile, Ala.; Oakland, Calif.; and Las Vegas to meet product demand in each respective market.
TireHub CEO Peter Gibbons described Lakeville as a "significant opportunity" and said it would service the broader Minneapolis area, where the company has many customers.
"Adding a (center) here allows us to strengthen those relationships, as well as partner with more dealers and retailers to help grow their business," he said.
In Columbia, TireHub has customers that are served by warehouses in neighboring markets, Mr. Gibbons said.
Establishing a presence in Columbia will allow TireHub to meet these customers' needs "with more frequent deliveries and exceptional personalized service. It also offers us an opportunity to reach more customers throughout South Carolina with increased deliveries."
