The Tire Society and CenTire joined forces to advance research and collaboration across the tire industry. In doing so, they will leverage synergies to foster engagement among current professionals and university students.
For more than 50 years, Tire Society has put technology and innovation at the center of its visions, publishing the peer-reviewed Journal of Tire Science and Technology and hosting its annual technology conference.
CenTire, founded in 2011, is an National Science Foundation-supported consortium of 21 tire and tire industry-related members working alongside Virginia Tech University and the University of Akron. Its purpose is to further tire industry research and support the next generation of industry leaders in the process.
After more than a year of the discussions, the two have leveraged their marketing synergies to underscore their missions and further their work. For instance, during the most recent Tire Society annual meeting, CenTire Managing Director Greg Bunting addressed Tire Society membership.
Students from the University of Akron and Virginia Tech presented a total of six papers at the event as well.
"Recognizing the importance of students as the future of our industry, and the mutual benefits of an academic partnership, the Tire Society continues to actively seek partnerships with other university institutions, with the goal to provide a mutually advantageous mechanism for the technology exchange and interaction."
