AKRON—A Smithers tire industry expert will discuss the market as it relates to autonomous vehicle technology during a presentation at the Tire Technology Expo Feb. 25 in Hanover, Germany.
Bruce Lambillotte, vice president of technical consulting at the Akron-based testing and consulting firm, will offer "The Impact of Autonomous Vehicles on Tires to 2029," a talk that is expected to examine tire design, evolution and expected market conditions in AV technology over the next decade, according to Smithers.
Lambillotte, who has four decades of experience in product development through his work with Smithers and OEMs, also will discuss sensor technology and the expected challenges for engineers as they address the AV industry, the firm said.
"Bruce is a leading expert when it comes to tire development, and his perspective on the coming decade of technology advancements will be invaluable for everyone who attends Tire Technology Expo," said Jim Popio, vice president for North America, materials science and engineering for Smithers.
Lambillotte is noted for his expertise in rubber compounding, tire formulation construction and reconstruction, polymer materials chemistry and characterization, physical properties of elastomer materials, rubber product failure analysis and tire reinforcements.
The Tire Technology Expo will feature a conference program and several educational courses, along with exhibits from the top names in tire manufacturing and testing. In addition to Lambillotte's presentation, Smithers will exhibit at the expo in booth 2014.
