NEW YORK—Pirelli's P Zero tire has been named as the best performance tire by the United Kingdom's supercar magazine Evo.
The magazine, Pirelli said in a statement, compared P Zero and seven other "well-known rivals" in its summer tire test, which involved a series of challenges to assess handling, acceleration and braking under a variety of different circumstances.
The test included both objective measurements, with tire performance measured in a controlled environment, as well as subjective assessments, where a variety of experienced Evo road testers drove on the tires to evaluate driver feedback.
The Pirelli P Zero was named as the overall test winner, having scored six top results, according to Evo.
"The Pirelli was especially impressive in the wet and by far the most impressive tire subjectively," wrote Evo.
The tire, Evo added, "set fastest laps in the wet and the dry and you could feel the grip."
The test was carried out with the latest P Zero in 18-inch size, which also will be the diameter that FIA Formula One World Championship adopts with Pirelli from 2021 onwards.
Pirelli P Zero sizes range between 18 and 22 inches.
The Evo title follows another test win for the tire, which, earlier this year, was named the best summer tire by German automotive magazine Auto Bild.
