GUANAJUATO, Mexico—For Pirelli S.p.A., the road to a lucrative and evolving North American tire market goes right through the center of Mexico.
And the Milan, Italy-based tire maker is paving that roadway to the North American market with a two-year, $15 million investment that will build on its Silao, Mexico, manufacturing presence, establishing a technological and R&D hub.
"The heart of the investment will be the creation of the Italian company's first Research and Development Center in Mexico, which will incorporate cutting-edge technologies for the production of tires designed for future mobility—always more electric, sustainable, and connected," Pirelli said in a statement. "The Silao R&D center will contribute to increasing Pirelli's technological and industrial competitiveness throughout the North American region and enhance the Italian company's ability to serve and support premium brands, primarily in the U.S."
