NOKIA, Finland—Nokian Tyres P.L.C. is updating its CT agricultural trailer tire —designed for use on tipping trailers for earthmoving and/or construction applications—with a higher load-bearing capacity.
The upgraded tire, available in size 600/55R26.5, can now carry up to 6.5 metric tons with a top speed of 40 miles per hour. At 31 mph, the load capacity is 7.9 tons.
Dealers in North America can place orders for the upgraded tire now, with deliveries scheduled for later in the year, Nokian said.
This improvement means that in a tandem-axle configuration, users will be able to carry up to two cubic meters more soil or sand, Tero Saari, product manager at Nokian Tyres, said.
Bigger, more powerful tractors on the market today are able to pull ever bigger tipping trailers with heavier loads and manage faster road transits, Saari said. The Nokian CT trailer tire, on the market since 2014, was created in response to this need for a strong, yet comfortable tire.
