ISTANBUL—Kordsa Tecknik Tekstil A.S., the Turkish reinforcement and materials specialist, is working with a German-based company active in radio-frequency-identification (RFID) technology to advance the use of RFID in tires.
As part of the collaboration, Kordsa and SES RFID Solutions GmbH are developing a flexible RFID tag small enough to be placed inside vehicle tires prior to the curing process, Kordsa said.
The project will employ SES's patented Wiretx RFID tag, which does not require an energy source such as a battery and features a flexible antenna on the outside of the label. The company did not explain how the Wiretx tag is powered.
