AKRON—Goodyear has launched a passenger tire, the EcoReady, whose material content is described as 70 percent sustainable, the company said in its recently released 2023 Corporate Responsibility Report.
The new product, listed on Goodyear's product website as an all-season sport-performance tire, was launched in the U.S. in December 2023 in two sizes, 235/45R18 and 255/45R19, and sells for $275 and $330 per tire, respectively.
The EcoReady is engineered with soybean oil, to reduce the use of petroleum-based oil, rice husk ash silica and sustainably sourced natural rubber, Goodyear said. Goodyear had signaled plans in January 2023 to launch such a product.
EcoReady has "the industry's highest level of sustainable material content to date," Goodyear's new CEO and president Mark Stewart said in a press release about the CSR.
Goodyear claims the EcoReady's asymmetric tread design provides stability in dry conditions and helps maintain grip in wet conditions, with a tread pattern designed with contoured edges to offer a quieter ride.
Goodyear does not indicate which vehicles it's targeting with this product but states the EcoReady is W speed rated and has an XL load rating.
