The three-year title partnership will see Goodyear work closely with the European Truck Racing Association (ETRA) to introduce sustainable technologies, harnessing the tire maker's premium fuel efficiency and low emission development insights.
Maciej Szymanski, marketing director for commercial, Europe, at Goodyear, said working with ETRA "to create a more sustainable series will see the future of the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship change for a greener future. We look forward to supporting the FIA ETRC with this goal and providing them with our latest tire technology, driven by sustainable materials and efficient tire management systems."
Manuel Vidal, president of the FIA Truck Racing Commission, called the title sponsorship agreement a "major step that will propel the growth of the sport of truck racing and will give the promoter solid foundations to build on. …"
The championship — which features race-prepared 3.5-metric ton trucks competing on road-racing courses across Europe — provides a platform for the transportation industry to demonstrate the performance and durability of vehicles and components as well as showcasing sustainable developments and new technologies, the organizers said.
