Goodyear expands Wrangler Workhorse lineup

AKRON—Goodyear has expanded its line of Wrangler SUV/light truck tires with the Wrangler Workhorse HT, an all-season tire designed primarily for highway use on a wide range of the most popular SUVs and pick-up trucks on the road today.

Engineered to deliver "dependable" all-season traction, the Wrangler Workhorse HT features a long-wearing tread compound for extended tread life and traction in wet, dry and light snow driving conditions and is backed by 60,000-mile limited treadwear warranty

The Wrangler Workhorse HT—one of four Workhorse iterations in the Wrangler lineup—replaces the Wrangler Fortitude in the Wrangler lineup. The Fortitude was launched in 2014.

The Workhorse HT launches in 34 sizes covering 16- to 20-inch rim diameters, ranging from 235/70R16 to LT285/60R20. Among the targeted vehicles for the new line are the Chevrolet Silverado, Traverse and Tahoe; Ford Explorer, Escape and F-Series; GMC Acadia, Yukon and Sierra; Honda CR-V, Odyssey and Pilot; and Toyota Tundra, Tacoma and 4Runner, Goodyear said.

The Workhorse HT joins the Workhorse AT, AT-LT and HT-LT in the Wrangler lineup.

Michiel Kramer, director of consumer product marketing at Goodyear, said the Workhorse HT delivers "durable, long-lasting performance and the toughness to excel wherever your day or job takes you" regardless of weather.

It was developed for long-lasting performance on highway terrains, Goodyear said, while the Workhorse AT is designed for all-terrain driving, allowing this tire to handle more rugged off-road conditions and also includes a three-peak mountain snowflake designation for dependable traction in light or deep snow.

Both the new Wrangler Workhorse HT and Workhorse AT have light truck and metric sizes included in their lineups.

Select LT and C-type sizes incorporate Goodyear's soybean oil technology in the tread compound, which replaces a portion of the petroleum-based materials used in production. Goodyear said this reflects its commitment to replace petroleum-derived oils in its tires by 2040.

Pricing for the Workhorse HT starts at $164 per tire, according to information posted on goodyear.com.

In all, Goodyear has 34 versions of the Wrangler line available.
