ANQING, China—Chinese tire maker Jiangsu General Science Technology Co. Ltd. (JGST) is set to start up production at a new tire plant in Cambodia, while also ramping up production at its facility in Thailand.
In a recent statement, the manufacturer said the $188 million (1.3 billion yuan) tire factory in the Sihanoukville special economic zone, in western Cambodia, would come online by yearend.
Initially scheduled for startup this September, the Cambodian factory is designed to have the capacity to produce 6 million units of passenger car tires annually.
