FORT MILL, S.C.—Continental Tire the Americas' first all-weather tire, the General AltiMax 365AW, is available to consumers in the U.S. market.
The tire, which was introduced in Canada late last year, is available in the U.S. in 52 sizes, covering 15- to 20-inch rim diameters, for passenger, CUV and SUV vehicles.
It represents a new segment for Continental, which said it took the best attributes of its General AltiMax RT43 all-season and General AltiMax Arctic12 winter tire to develop the all-weather product with the 3-Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMS) certification.
Conti said the AltiMax 365AW was the result of a three-year development process.
General's visual alignment indicators help the driver know if the the tread is wearing evenly and if the vehicle is in proper alignment. If the tread wears off unevenly, it alerts the driver to check the wheel alignment.
The symmetric tread pattern allows for the tire to be rotated, promoting long, even tread life, Conti said. The tire has a 60,000-mile limited treadwear warranty and is backed by the 45-day customer satisfaction trial.
