NASHVILLE—Bridgestone Americas Inc.'s newly formed GCR Mining business unit will operate under the auspices of Bridgestone's Off-The-Road tire business, according to a company spokesperson.
The GCR Mining unit comprises nine GCR sales/service locations and two retread plants in Alaska, Arizona, Montana, Nevada and Wyoming. These locations are more heavily skewed toward the mining sector, the spokesperson said.
Bridgestone disclosed the formation of the new unit as part of a broader action to divest 51 GCR sales/service outlets and nine retread plants in three separate transactions.
Those deals—with Pomp's Tire, Southern Tire Mart and an as-yet undisclosed third party—are scheduled to close before the end of September, the spokesperson said.
Rob Seibert has led the OTR business since November 2020 when he was promoted to president, OTR, U.S. and Canada, Bridgestone Americas. He was hired by Bridgestone in 2015 as marketing manager.
Bridgestone at this time did not identify who will oversee the GCR Mining unit.
