BOWIE, Md.—Tire recycling executive is a new member of the Environmental Technologies Trade Advisory Committee in the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Richard "Dick" Gust joins the committee as president of national account sales and director of government affairs for Liberty Tire Recycling L.L.C. of Pittsburgh, the nation's largest tire recycling company.
Gust also is a former Tire Industry Association president and current chair of the association's Environmental Advisory Council.
Gust began his new position on May 7, and his appointment is scheduled to run until Aug. 16, 2022, when the committee's current charter expires, TIA said.
"Dick's appointment recognizes his distinguished work and leadership in the domestic and international waste tire recycling and reuse segments," TIA CEO Roy Littlefield said in a statement. "We are honored to have such a well-respected and knowledgeable person as Dick representing the tire recycling industry and TIA on this important advisory committee."
The committee provides advice to expand U.S. export of environmental technologies, goods and services while complying with federal environmental, safety and related requirements,
Gust was TIA president in 2005 and formerly served as a long-time board member, TIA said. His current work as chairman of TIA's EAC includes identifying and promoting recycled manufactured products and sustainable practices within the tire and rubber industry.
