RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif.—Toyota Motor Corp. has selected a 17-inch size of the Falken Ziex ZE001A all-season tire as an OE fitment on the redesigned 2021 Sienna minivan, which is due in North American showrooms by late 2020 or early 2021.
The fourth-generation Sienna, which features a hybrid power plant across all trim levels, reflects Toyota's attempt to redefine the minivan segment by targeting the vehicle at a wider array of life stages and activities, according to Sumitomo Rubber North America Inc. (SRNA), producer of the Falken brand.
Pricing for the four-door, seven-passenger lift-back minivan starts at $34,460, according to Toyota Motor Sales USA. The Sienna was the fifth-best selling minivan in the U.S. and No. 2 in Canada in 2019, with combined sales of over 88,000 units,
The Falken OE fitment is size 235/65R17 103T. SRNA builds the Ziex ZEOO1A at its factory in Tonawanda, N.Y., and delivers it to the Sienna assembly plant in Princeton, Ind.
The 17-inch size is the standard fitment for the Sienna LE and XLE front- and all-wheel-drive models; fitments on other trim levels include P235/60R18 and P235/50R20. A tire repair kit is standard on the Sienna; a mini-spare is optional.
SRNA said the Ziex ZE001A features four circumferential grooves for water evacuation/enhanced hydroplaning resistance and stability in wet conditions. Chamfered tread block corners support even wear throughout the tire's life, and a solid center rib enables handling response.
David Colletti, Falken's vice president, OE, technical service and quality assurance, said the Sienna fitment expands Falken's OE relationship with Toyota, which also includes the 2020 RAV 4 SUV.
