FINDLAY, Ohio—An all-terrain tire produced by Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has been selected as original equipment on Nissan Motor Co. Australia's new Navara N-Trek Warrior utility vehicle.
The tire, the Discoverer AT3 LT in size LT275/70R17, is distributed through Exclusive Tyres of Australia, and is part of a series of Cooper tires that have been "tested in the Australian outback," according to news release.
"To complement the suspension lift and 17-inch wheels, the Cooper Discoverer AT3 LT was the obvious choice for the project," Colin Skead, chief operating officer of Exclusive Tyre Distributors, said in a statement.
Cooper, in a release, noted that the tire is part of the Cooper Discoverer AT3 series, a category of all-terrain tires for sport-utility vehicles and light trucks that can travel both on- and off-road.
"With a history of being tested in the Australian outback for more than 25 years, Cooper's light truck tire range has a reputation as the tire of choice for adventurers and off-road enthusiasts from Byron Bay to Broome and everywhere in between," Skead said.
Cooper said Nissan collaborated with Australia-based Premcar to develop and re-engineer the ATV at Premcar's Epping facility in Victoria, Australia.
The Navara N-Trek Warrior boasts a raised suspension, unique body work, a specialized interior and now the Cooper premium tire package, Cooper said.
"Cooper is excited to have our tire selected for this fitment," Glenn Arbaugh, executive director of global OE strategy and business for Cooper Tire, said in a statement. "The tire's robust light truck construction and superior on- and off-road stability is a perfect match with Nissan's new ride and suspension package."
