LAS VEGAS—Goodyear scored a pair of runner-up awards for new products at the 2023 SEMA Show—the Cooper Cobra Instinct and Mickey Thompson Baja Boss XS—but the top new Tire & Related Product is the Fanttik X9 Pro Portable Tire Inflator.
SEMA's annual New Product Awards competition recognizes outstanding achievements in the development of products being introduced to the automotive specialty-equipment market at the SEMA Show. Products are judged in 18 award categories, and each category has one winner and two runners-up.
More than 1,300 products were entered into the 18 different Showcase categories to be considered for a SEMA New Product Awards this year. Winners were selected based on a variety of factors that included superiority of innovation, technical achievement, quality and workmanship, consumer appeal and marketability, and more.
The Fanttik line of portable tire inflators is offered by Metasee L.L.C., a Pearland, Texas-based "young and dynamic" company focused on outdoor and automotive products that provide everything needed for the perfect road trip.
The Fanttik X9 Pro portable inflator is a portable device powered by a built-in 5000mAh large-capacity battery offering long life and cooling system. The company says the unit can refill a standard motorcycle tire in just 27 seconds (to 28-35 psi) and is capable of maximum inflation pressure of 150psi, suitable for motorcycles, compact cars, bicycles, balls and other inflatables.
The Cooper Cobra Instinct is all-season tire launched this summer that's designed to fit high-performance sedans, CUVs SUVs and muscle cars. Available in 25 size, covering 17- to 20-inch rim diameters, the tire has an asymmetric tread pattern and sweeping tread grooves that provide "agile traction," enhanced grip and improved braking on wet and snowy road.
The tire also features a snake-skin-inspired sidewall design that Cooper Tire said "delivers striking aesthetics for bold curb appeal."
The Mickey Thompson Baja Boss XS is a competition-inspired extreme off-roading tire that's also designed for street use. The tire features extreme "SideBiters" and silica-reinforced compound for traction and a four-ply "PowerPly" sidewall technology for enhanced sidewall strength/integrity desired for operating in the unpredictable terrain of competition-style rock crawling, endurance desert racing and short-course style racing.
The company anticipates having it available commercially by the first quarter of 2024.
