FAIRLAWN, Ohio—About one-third of the 180-person work force at Continental A.G.'s Northeast Ohio location recently gave back to the community, volunteering their time, effort and holiday goodwill at three local organizations as part of the company's "Conti Cares" program.
More than 60 employees from Conti's Fairlawn location observed a "Day of Giving" Dec. 13, Conti said in a news release, volunteering at Stewarts Caring Place, a cancer wellness center in Fairlawn; the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank in Akron; and the Humane Society of Summit County in Twinsburg.
The Conti employees performed a variety of tasks, helping the organizations prepare for the holidays.
"We want to create value for those who live and work near our locations," said Jim Hill, head of Continental's North American industrial business. "Our employees recognize the value of supporting many local charitable causes, especially during the holiday season. Annually, they have been generous with their time and their money."
Conti's Dec. 13 "Day of Giving" turned into a "Day of Caring" Dec. 18, when employees collected and donated more than 3,000 pounds of non-perishable food items to the Copley Outreach Center, Conti said. This exceeded the 2,600 pounds of food items collected last year.
