Continental adopts new naming system for heavy-truck tire lines

FORT MILL, S.C.—Continental Tire the Americas Inc. is adopting new nomenclature for its heavy-truck tire lines, starting with its steer and all-position tires used in long-haul and super-regional applications.

These tires, formerly known as the Conti Hybrid HS3, now will be called Conti HSL3, with the H for vehicle application, S for axle configuration and L for application.

Conti said the the descriptive nomenclature helps tire dealers and fleets pinpoint the tire's application and usage at a glance.

Conti said the tire meets Smartway requirements and is distinguished from the Conti EcoPlus HS3—Conti's long-haul steer tire—by its flexibility for regional use.

The tire maker said the HSL 3 provides smooth, even tread wear, long removal mileage and low rolling resistance. Its fuel-saving edge technology increases application flexibility, Conti said, making it ideal for super-regional applications such as hub-and-spoke freight distribution.

The tire is available in two sizes: 11R22.5 load ranges G and H; and 295/75R22.5 load ranges G and H. All sizes are expected to be available by August.
