BHUJ, India—Specialty off-highway tire maker BKT has obtained ISO/IEC 17025:2017 certification for testing and calibration at its Bhuj plant laboratory.
The certification was awarded by NABL, the Indian body that regulates the accreditation of test and calibration laboratories, and certifies that the testing conducted by the BKT engineers, chemists and technicians meet international standards for tire testing.
"This recognition makes it possible to have certified the quality by precise tests of the raw materials and semi-finished materials, and control over manufacture and testing of the end product," BKT said in a news release. "The greatest benefit is for the tires, which become even more reliable and safe. Certified by rules which are valid worldwide, this certification abolishes the need for new tests once the product has been exported, thus reducing costs and lead times."
Opened in 2015, the Bhuj plant is considered to be BKT's flagship. It is positioned for growth and is designed to be expanded as needs arise. In 2017, the plant opened its R&D Center, which handles all issues relating to the technological development of BKT tires. This includes the development of new compounds for product performance and testing the efficiency of its products.
