GREENVILLE, S.C.―Michelin North America's BFGoodrich Tires brand is renewing its broadline all-season tire line for passenger cars, crossovers and minivans with the launch of the BFG Advantage Control.
Michelin claims the new line, which eventually will replace the Advantage T/A Sport line in the BFG portfolio, offers improved wet performance and a quieter ride versus "leading competitors."
Michelin said the Advantage Control serves as a "point of entry" to the BFGoodrich brand, offering BFG performance at an affordable price point. The development of this line was driven in large part by dealer feedback, which led to the focus on enhanced mileage and wet grip.
The line—launched March 1 in Canada—will launch April 1 in the U.S. and Mexico in 68 sizes, covering 14- through 20-inch rim diameters. The new line is backed by a 75,000-mile limited treadwear warranty for T- or H-speed rated sizes and 65,000 miles for V- or W-speed-rated SKUs.
"By listening to needs of both our dealers and consumers, BFGoodrich has improved everyday driving," said Stephen Peters, BFGoodrich brand director. "Whether it is taking a family road trip or visiting a place that brings a sense of escape, BFGoodrich is there to help create long-lasting memories."
Michelin credits the new line's improved all-season and wet braking performance on "Aqua-Flume" technology, which features a curvilinear groove system designed to evacuate water from under the contact patch.
Consumers also should experience a more comfortable ride due to the use of a "g-wedge" sidewall stabilizer, which the company said offers "crisp handling" in addition to comfort.
The size range for the new line starts at 185/65R14 and runs up to 245/50R20, in H, V and W speed ratings. It also includes a dozen sizes with XL load ratings, and it provides 72 percent market coverage for rim diameters of 18 inches and up, Michelin said.
Some of the targeted vehicles include: Chevrolet Equinox; BMW 3 Series; Honda CR-V; Hyundai Elantra; Nissan Altima; Toyota Camry; and Subaru Forrester.
Pricing information was not disclosed.
The BFG Advantage T/A Sport line launched in 2016 as a broadline all-season tire pitched as a tire designed to add "some spark to the daily commute."
Michelin is sourcing the new line from P.T. Multistrada Tbk., the Indonesian tire maker that Group Michelin acquired in 2019.
