Apollo's new Vredestein Ultrac Pro UHP built for summer speed

ATLANTA—Apollo Tyres Ltd. described the new Vredestein Ultrac Pro as a UUHP (as in "ultra" ultra-high performance) summer tire.

Developed by the company's global R&D team based in the Netherlands, the Vredestein Ultrac Pro represents a monumental leap forward in its tire engineering, the company said.

Compared to its predecessor, the Ultrac Vorti+, the Ultrac Pro boasts a 13-percent reduction in weight across identical dimensions. This weight reduction enhances steering response, acceleration and braking performance, Apollo said.

The weight reduction has been made possible due to the tire's innovative design and utilization of cutting-edge materials, according to the tire maker.

Through the introduction of a sophisticated mono-ply construction and the optimization of rubber compounds, the Ultrac Pro achieves a uniform distribution of force across the contact patch for optimal grip at high speeds without compromising durability or comfort, the company said.

The tire features an expanded flexing zone to maximize comfort while preserving stability. Its reduced weight diminishes the energy required for production and transportation, aligning with Apollo's commitment to eco-conscious practices.

"Introducing several innovative features, including sizes tested for 'Wet Grip in Worn State' and an optimized footprint with enhanced longitudinal grooves, the Ultrac Pro heralds a new era of tire technology," the company said.

The tire is available in 18- to 24-inch rim diameters for an array of vehicles, ranging from sports cars to SUVs.

Apollo said the tire's sidewall was designed by Italdesign and inspired by the styling of classic timepieces.

"This design marks a significant milestone in tire aesthetics and performance, making the Ultrac Pro the first product to feature an asymmetric sidewall design. This innovative design seamlessly connects to the tread pattern, enhancing both the visual appeal and functional performance of the tire," Apollo said.

The Ultrac Pro is EV-ready, designed to extend the range of electric vehicles with reduced rolling resistance. Engineered to accommodate heavier vehicles, all Ultrac Pro tires will come with a Y-speed rating with XL.

Apollo is partnering with luxury tuner Platinum Motorsport, which created a bespoke $306,000 Range Rover L460 with 24-inch Forgiato alloy wheels.

Apollo Tyres Ltd. introduced 45 sizes in May and will release an additional 55 sizes in 2025. By 2025, the Ultrac Pro will offer 100 sizes, ensuring compatibility with most premium sports vehicles, including the Lamborghini Urus.
