Tire Society extends deadline for abstracts

AKRON—The Tire Society, a scientific and technical organization dedicated to the tire industry, is making a second annual call for both abstracts and presentations for the 41st annual Tire Society Meeting and Conference on Tire Science and Technology.

An initial abstract submission has been extended to May 30, according to the group. The presentation deadline remains July 29.

The conference is set for Sept. 12-13, in-person with an available virtual option, at the University of Akron in the Jean Hower Taber Student Union Ballroom.

The theme will be "New Horizons in Tire Evaluation."

The gathering is intended for engineers, scientists, users, policy makers, students and advocates for the industry, with a goal being the effective communication of knowledge and research.

Attendees, whether in-person or virtual, can expect to see technical paper presentations; a keynote address and plenary lecture; panel discussions; sponsor exhibits; and an awards banquet, among other events.

"Given the current uncertainty regarding travel and attending meetings due to COVID-19, the society is currently planning to conduct its 2022 conference using a hybrid live/virtual format," the organization said. "While the intention of The Tire Society is to conduct an annual in-person meeting and conference presenting new developments in tire science and technology, the safety and comfort of our membership is paramount."
