EPE, Netherlands—VMI Group's sustainability strides are certified silver.
The Epe-based tire machinery maker said Feb. 6 that is had earned an EcoVadis Silver Medal for its comprehensive approach to sustainability. The accolade puts the company in the top 15 percent of sustainable companies globally.
"Sustainability is of paramount importance at VMI," CEO Harm Voortman said in a statement. "Driven by our own ambition and supported by our customers, we strive to be and remain a leader in our industry. With our high quality and innovative technology, we make a significant contribution to sustainability in the various industries in which we are active."
To earn the distinction, VMI displayed sustainability commitments and strides across 21 criteria representing four key sustainability focus areas: environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.
Considered one of the preeminent third-party sources for the evaluation of sustainable business and business practices, EcoVadis has evaluated and rated more than 125,000 worldwide.
