Sustainability, also, is just what Vibracoustic does.
Its products—those that reduce the noise, vibration and harshness characteristics of vehicles—were built for this new mobility moment.
And they're being further tailored to meet it.
As the automotive industry continues its transition to electrification, Vibracoustic products are taking a leading role. Because by their very nature EVs demonstrate different needs—and in some cases place greater demands on components—with their weight, torque and quiet rides.
Turns out, Vibracoustic is ready to take on all of them.
"EVs create many new challenges. Among the most significant ones are the higher loads, mainly from the battery pack weight and higher frequency excitations coming from the electric motors," Mueller said. "These challenges can be overcome with innovative solutions such as increasing the durability of mounts and developing specialized and specifically tuned rubber compounds for EVs to reduce unwanted and uncomfortable high frequencies."
Vibracoustic recently introduced a modular mounting solution for electric motors that performs just as OEMs need, Mueller said, while also offering lightweighting benefits.
Ensuring the quiet rides of electric vehicles is right in the Vibracoustic wheelhouse. And the Darmstadt-based company is bringing its depth of NVH experience to the electric vehicle space with products designed to meet their toughest requirements.
Because without an engine to provide a hum of background noise, "many other sound and vibration sources now come to the surface and need to be addressed," Mueller said. "AC compressors or pumps are good examples for this phenomenon, and we provide decoupling solutions for these auxiliary components to secure a quieter operation."
But it's not just about quiet, comfortable rides. It's about more efficient rides, too.
Yes, Vibracoustic products can help extend the range of electric vehicles.
"Our air springs or hydro leveling systems, for example, can actively lower the car at higher speeds, optimizing aerodynamics while also increasing efficiency and range of the vehicle," Mueller said.
