FORT WORTH, Texas—Tokai Carbon CB Ltd.'s sustainable carbon blacks come with a stamp of approval.
The Fort Worth-based carbon black maker said May 12 that its Borger, Texas, plant has received certification for achieving the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification Plus standard. This designation allows Tokai to certify that its circular or bio-based carbon blacks produced at the Borger facility as sustainable.
"This (certification) will allow Tokai Carbon CB to continue to be a global leader in sustainability, which is a corporate Tokai Carbon priority," Bill Jones, president of Tokai Carbon CB, said in a statement. "Tokai Carbon CB has already achieved a Gold rating on the Ecovadis sustainability scorecard and will now be the first carbon black company to offer a certified sustainable carbon black in North America."
