OSWIECIM, Poland—Synthos S.A. received ISCC Plus certification for the production of sustainable butadiene and butadiene rubber at its production facility in Kralupy, Czech Republic.
The European Union-approved international sustainability and carbon certification (ISCC Plus) enables companies throughout the supply chain to demonstrate the sustainability of their products based on traceability and mass balance requirements.
In a March 16 statement, the Polish supplier said in addition to the certification of the two materials, Synthos Kralupy also received ISCC certification for its global butadiene trading activities.
"We believe that the availability of sustainable synthetic rubber made from bio-butadiene or other circular feedstocks will play an important role in the industry's ability to meet the demands of modern mobility," said Senior Director Matteo Marchisio.
The certification comes a month after Synthos announced plans to build a bio-butadiene plant at an undisclosed location with the capacity of 40,000 metric tons per year.
