Hexpol TPE joins project to make climate-neutral car

MALMO, Sweden—Hexpol TPE has joined the ambitious Polestar 0 Project, which aims to create the world's first "truly climate-neutral car by 2030 without offsetting."

Swedish electric car manufacturer Polestar has teamed up with several suppliers, including thermoplastic elastomer compounder Hexpol TPE, to speed up its sustainability work on the creation of the car.

The project will work to identify and eliminate all greenhouse gas emissions from the extraction of raw materials to when the car is delivered to the customer, as well as the end-of-life handling, said Hexpol TPE in a Sept. 14 statement.

The partnership agreement is with Hexpol TPE's site in Amal, Sweden.

The compounder said it would support the project with its knowledge and capabilities in thermoplastic elastomer and soft polymer compounds.

Furthermore, it will help the project by conducting research into advancing possibilities with biobased and recycled content.

The project's scope will also involve supply chain mapping to identify all root sources of emissions and investigating logistics systems with zero CO2 emissions.
