BURTON, Ohio—Hexpol Compounding Americas has achieved a major sustainability milestone at its mixing site in Middlefield, Ohio, which is now certified as ISCC Plus.
The International Sustainability and Carbon Certification means that this Hexpol site—which works in rubber and silicone manufacturing—maintains a mass balance chain of custody for its raw materials.
"We are proud of the Middlefield and Hexpol Compound Americas support team's dedication to achieve the ISCC Plus certification," said Jeremy Lawson, managing director, Hexpol Middlefield. "The global sustainability and carbon certification is a significant milestone that reflects our organization's dedication to sustainable solutions."
The ISCC Plus was issued Nov. 22.
Generally, the accolade refers to the working environment for a company up and down its supply chain, focusing on the verification and traceability of sustainable materials.
The certification means Hexpol Compounding Middlefield can produce materials that use circular or bio-circular methods, and they are traceable across the supply chain—from the origin to the end product.
"Certification of supply chains is a vital part of an organization's overall sustainability management," Hexpol stated in a Nov. 29 release. "This ensures that the integrity and performance of the entire supply chain are aligned toward common sustainability goals and objectives from start to finish."
As much for its own goals as its customer's, Hexpol said it pursued the certification to effect a positive environmental impact and safe and secure workplaces.
