Bridgestone, Michelin, Pirelli make 'A-List' for environmental leadership

LONDON—Bridgestone, Michelin and Pirelli & C. S.p.A. have been recognized for their environmental leadership.

The three tire makers were named in the international non-profit CDP's Annual A-List, which recognizes corporations on their level of transparency and performance on climate change, forests and water security.

London-based CDP Worldwide gathers, distributes and promotes information on environmental issues. The 2021 A-List includes more than 270 companies that have achieved top marks in areas of climate change, water risk or deforestation.

More than 13,000 companies reported environmental data through CDP in 2021.

Pirelli and Bridgestone were two of 200 companies earning top scores for climate change, which rates efforts in reducing emissions and climate risks.

Michelin was one of 118 companies earning top marks for water security.

This is Pirelli's fourth consecutive year and Bridgestone's second consecutive year on the list.

"The recognition from the CDP is one more testament to the central place that Pirelli gives to the challenges of climate change in its growth strategy," said Marco Tronchetti Provera, Pirelli executive vice chairman and CEO.

"The pillars of Pirelli's approach are concrete plans for energy transition, transparency and performance, with the willingness to take on ever more challenging goals. Looking after the environment means looking after the future of the company."

According to Pirelli, the company has a target for the reduction of CO2 emissions validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) with a goal of "carbon neutrality" by 2030. That goal is supported by the energy supply target of 100 percent renewable source electricity at the global level by 2025.

The company's research and development teams also are committed to innovative and renewable materials and the reduction of emissions from the supply chain.
