TOKYO—Bridgestone Corp. has launched a pair of initiatives to advance the chemical recycling of waste tires and produce chemical feedstock for making new tires.
Bridgestone said Feb. 18 it had launched a joint research and development program to develop chemical recycling technologies that use waste tires to achieve "high-yield production of isoprene."
The Japanese tire maker's project partners are: the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Tohoku University, energy group Eneos Corp. and JGC Holdings Corp.
