BRAMPTON. Ontario—Zinc oxide supplier Zochem has exceeded its goal to cut water consumption by 33 percent at its plant in Brampton. By stressing its water conservation goals at staff meetings and training personnel on best practices for conservation, the plant was able to reduce its water usage by 42 percentwithin the last 12 months.
In a statement, Zochem said it began the campaign to reduce water usage by analyzing the manufacturing process and plant maintenance techniques. While the company did upgrade some equipment to help it achieve the conversation goal, it found its most effective moves came when it involved the employees in the efforts.
"We've always worked toward improving sustainability in the materials that we use in manufacturing and transportation," Zochem General Manager Mohit Sharma said in a statement. "A reduction in water consumption is the latest way that Zochem has been able to improve our environmental footprint."
