TOKYO—Zeon Corp. has increased prices of synthetic rubber and certain elastomers in the face of increasing production costs.
As of Oct. 15, the Japanese supplier said the new prices will include the following increases:
- ESBR—17 cents/kg;
- Butadiene rubber—27 cents/kg;
- Polyisoprene rubber—30 cents/kg;
- NBR—13 cents/kg;
- Polybutadiene rubber—13 cents/kg; and
- HNBR—$1-$1.70/kg.
This isn't the first time that Zeon has raised prices on SR products. The firm, in July, raised prices on some of its SR and latex products.
On Oct. 21, Zeon increased the prices of its thermoplastic elastomer SIS Quintac about 34 cents/kg and isoprene monomer by 20 cents/kg.
This is the secon time this year that Zeon has increased prices for its elastomer products. It previously raised prices on its SIS Quintac products in April.
The price hikes are the direct result of increasing manufacturing costs, including higher prices for utility, packaging and raw materials, Zeon said.
"Fuel prices have risen sharply since the price revision this spring, and utilities, secondary raw material costs, and distribution costs have also continued to rise," explained Zeon. "These manufacturing costs are beyond the scope of self-help efforts, (and) we will raise prices in order to maintain a stable supply of products."
