BERWYN, Pa.—Trinseo S.A., an international manufacturer of synthetic rubber, plastics and latex binders, has issued its 9th annual Sustainability & Corporate Social Responsibility Report.

The report showcases how Trinseo is meeting or exceeding the highest standards of safety and environmental performance while developing innovative solutions that benefit the world, the company said in a news release. This year's reports marks one full year since Trinseo adopted the GRI framework for public sustainability, the company said. GRI is an independent organization providing a common language and framework for public sustainability reporting, allowing more global comparability and better quality of information.

    In this year's report, Trinseo:

    • Conducted its first materiality assessment, a process that distilled the interests, requirements, capabilities and insights of the company's key stakeholders to determine material topics for Trinseo.
    • Demonstrated significant reductions in its environmental footprint since its first report in 2011, including a 10 percent reduction in electricity usage, 31 percent in water consumption, 48 percent in greenhouse gas emissions and 36 percent in total waste.
    • Demonstrated a recordable injury rate of 0.21, significantly lower than the average for manufacturers and American Chemistry Council member companies.
    • Highlighted how Trinseo collaborates with customers to create sustainable product solutions, including synthetic rubber products that meet the demands of high-performance tires, lightweight vehicle materials to improve fuel efficiency and lightweight footwear materials with a reduced environmental footprint.

"Trinseo is a value-driven organization and this report underscores that the tenets of Responsible Care, respect for and commitment to Environmental, Health & Safety and sustainability are paramount to our organization at every level and in every decision we make," said Frank BozichTrinseo President and CEO.

The report can be found at trinseo.com/sustainability.
