BAYTOWN, Texas—Six people were injured July 31 after an explosion and fire at an ExxonMobil Chemical Co. propylene and propane unit in Baytown.
In an email, an ExxonMobil spokeswoman said that the six injured workers were being treated for non-life-threatening injuries and that the firm was not aware of any other injuries. She added that the ExxonMobil's emergency response teams were continuing to work to extinguish the fire as of 3 p.m. on July 31.
"Our first priority is people in the community and in our facilities," the company spokeswoman said. "Our Industrial Hygiene staff continues air quality monitoring at the site and fence line. Available information shows no adverse impact at this time."
