PANCEVO, Serbia—Serbia's HIP-Petrohemija has shut down production at its synthetic rubber production plant in Elemir, northern Serbia, as part of a 30-day turnaround activity.
The company ceased operations at the plant, near the northern Zrenjanin region, on March 20 to repair processing equipment at the site.
"The scheduled activities shall provide continuation in safe and efficient operation of the company, and all the works shall be performed in accordance with the previously defined schedule," HIP Petrohemija said in a statement.
Operational since 1983, the Elemir site produces 45,000 metric tons per year of 1.3-butadiene and 40,000 tons of styrene-butadiene rubber.
The company markets its emulsion SBR products under the Hipren brand, which includes two types of series 1500 and one type of series 1700.
HIP-Petrohemija acquired the plant in 1991.
