PARIS-LA DEFENSE, France—Safic-Alcan S.A.S. has extended its footprint in Europe and Turkey for the distribution of its Tiona titanium dioxide pigments, used by coatings, inks, plastics, rubber, paper and other manufacturers for their high-performance benefits.
The extension into the Benelux Union (Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg) and Turkey is made possible by the specialty chemical distribution company's pact with with Stamford, Conn.-based Tronox Chemicals Co., a global producer of titanium dioxide.
"We are proud of this extended agreement with Tronox, a leading producer of TiO2, and look forward to further develop the business across Europe and Turkey," said Philippe Combette, CEO of Safic- Alcan. "Tiona TiO2 pigments offer the best-in-class quality and performance to our pan-European customers who have an important demand for such high quality products."
According to Safic-Alcan, the distribution agreement is exclusive and involves the entire range of Tiona pigments produced by Tonox. The agreement became effective April 1 in the Benelux Union and May 1 in Turkey, according to the company.
It also extends an existing distribution partnership between Safic-Alcan and Tronox in France.
"It builds on the longstanding partnership between Safic-Alcan and Tronox which started back in the 1980s and is confirmed today with the recent acquisition of Cristal, the Saudi-based leading producer of titanium chemical, by Tronox," Safic-Alcan said in a news release.
Safic-Alcan, which employs about 630 people across 25 international offices, develops a range of polymers, materials and additives for the rubber, coatings, adhesives, thermoplastics, polyurethane, lubricants, detergency, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals industries.
