Safic-Alcan and Arkema working together on distribution deal

PARIS—Safic-Alcan, an international specialty chemicals distributor, will partner with Arkema for the distribution of its Siliporite molecular sieves brand range of applications.

Arkema and Safic-Alcan, following extensive discussions, now say they will "negotiate and finalize a distribution agreement" for the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Nordics, Russia, Greece and Southeast Asia. Both companies are based near Paris.

Additional countries could be added at a later date.

The deal will include Siliporite, "which provides engineering polyurethane excellence for a wide range of applications, acting by removing residual moisture often present in polyol, solvents or fillers to prevent water from reacting with isocyanate groups," the companies said.

"We are very pleased with the extension of our partnership with Arkema molecular sieve for polyurethane applications and beyond, reinforcing a successful focus in our polyurethane capabilities," said Yann Lissillour, a managing director for Safic-Alcan, in a statement.

Safic-Alcan is an independent distributor of specialty chemicals headquartered in Paris La Defense, a business district just west of Paris. The company makes polymers, materials and additives for many sectors, including the rubber, coatings, adhesives, thermoplastics, polyurethane, lubricants, detergency, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals industries.

Specialty chemicals and advanced materials company Arkema is headquartered in Colombes near Paris.
