MUNICH, Germany—Expect to pay more for silicone products from Wacker Chemical Corp. The chemicals company announced in an Oct. 5 news release that it will further price increases, effective Oct. 15., by an average of 30 percent or more for its Wacker Silicones business subdivision.
"The measure is necessitated by ongoing significant cost increases for strategic raw materials, especially silicone metal, logistics and packaging as well as multiple [coronavirus] pandemic measures," the company said. "Critical components in the supply chain have multiplied in cost."
Wacker Silicones' complete silicones portfolio is subject to the price adjustments, the company said. This includes silicone fluids, silicone emulsions, silicone rubber, silicone resins, silanes, HDK pyrogenic silica, sealants and silane-terminated polymers. In 2020, Wacker Silicones generated about 50 percent of group sales.
Wacker Silicones, one of the largest silicone manufacturers worldwide with more than 2,800 products, stated that it "will continue to invest in innovation to support global asset development and to strive to achieve high customer service levels."
